On Tuesday, the Fams team headed to the Parliament of NSW to have meetings with Minister Kate Washington, Shadow Minister Natasha Maclaren-Jones and observe question time at the Legislative Assembly and the Legislative Council.
As a peak body, it is important to have an understanding of the protocols in parliament, and we saw the day as one of profiling Fams and professional development.
We had valuable meetings with both the Minister and Shadow Minister, keeping them up to date on all the important work that Fams is taking part in on behalf of the sector. We discussed the three asks from our Budget Estimates submission – Rebalance investment, invest in the evidence and address the Australian Child Maltreatment Study.
The day was interesting and informative, and helped us to strengthen our advocacy for the sector.
