Two Masters students have joined Fams this month as part of their work placement program.
Gabbie Lynch and Emily Fischer are already making their mark and producing excellent work.
Please make them feel welcome when you see them online or hopefully, in time, face to face. Here is a little more information about them:
Gabbie Lynch is in the final year of her Master of Social Work at Western Sydney University. She has chosen to complete her first 400-hour placement at Fams.
“Having worked as a Family Support Worker with an NDIS provider and a Learning Support Officer within a NSW public school, I am deeply passionate about working to enhance and support child and family wellbeing and safety,” Gabbie says.
“Alongside this, I am eager to explore areas of maternal mental health and the role of place and environment in supporting community development initiatives.”
Outside of work and study, Gabbie trains in long-distance running, dabbles in photography and takes regular trips to beaches and national parks.
Emily Fischer recently completed an Anthropology degree at Sydney University and is halfway through completing a Masters of Social Work at the University of Western Sydney.
She currently works at the Child Support Agency, helping separated parents access, navigate and interpret services.
In her spare time she enjoys gardening, DIY home maintenance, millinery, jewellery making and refining her circus skills.
“My own personal growth has always been geared towards empathising with others, because developing solid relationships is about building and keeping trust with people and within communities,” Emily says.
“Children, young people and families need to be able to access crucial social services they trust, and I really want to be a part of that. I’m extremely excited about my opportunity to be able to contribute to this space in my placement at Fams.”
