Webinar: Children Thriving Through Community

Southern Cross University’s Faculty of Health and the SCU Community Reference Group are offering their 2021 Community Seminar Series free to the sector on Thursday.

Community development has a long tradition of initiating projects that build protective and supportive environments for children and families in Australia.

In association with National Child Protection Week 2021, Carmen Stewart, Project Activator for It Takes a Town, will explore how community development principles have been activated in the 2484 area to create a community in which children can thrive.

Register now for the webinar Children Thriving Through Community on Thursday 9 September from 3.30pm to 5.30pm (AEST).

About the presenter

Carmen Stewart is Project Activator for It Takes a Town.

It Takes a Town is built upon the premise that we all have a role to play in creating change: residents, services, clubs, churches, businesses, schools and government.

It Takes a Town is focused on nurturing the qualities of collaboration, generosity and responsiveness.

If we get the culture of community ‘right’ and provide backbone support for the seeding of new collaborations and initiatives, then multiple outcomes can reverberate out for the benefit of children, families and individuals.
