In Conversation During Lockdown Update

In Conversation During Lockdown Update

On Tuesday we welcomed Gemma Rygate, CEO of The Centre for Volunteering, to our weekly In Conversation During Lockdown event.

The Centre for Volunteering will be holding webinars and training programs, not only COVID-19 focused, about being inclusive, bringing volunteers back onboard post-lockdown, and making programs available to everybody.

Whilst discussing vaccinated vs. unvaccinated staff and clients, Gemma encouraged the sector to get policies and risk assessments up-to-date, and hold staff consultations. She envisages volunteers to be treated the same as paid employees in regard to a service’s vaccination policy. She recommends organisations make it very clear in the volunteer policy what they can and can’t do. A resource/ example of this will be circulated by The Centre for Volunteering soon.

As NSW lockdown rules relax once the population reaches 70% and 80% vaccination rates, we will be moving our In Conversation During Lockdown series from weekly to fortnightly.
