Meet the team: Catherine White

Meet Catherine White. She’s our Project Manager, bringing many years of experience to the Fams table.

Catherine has worked in the community services sector for over 30 years and has a particular interest in domestic and family violence, child protection and homelessness. She has been a passionate advocate for social justice, gender equality and the elimination of violence against women and children. 

Catherine has been recognised for her work with a Paul Harris Fellowship (2016). She was also a Finalist in the Rotary Inspirational Woman of the Year Awards (2013), Blacktown City Woman of the Year Awards (2012), a Pride of Australia Nominee (2012) and given the Chifley Outstanding Community Service Award (2011).  

Catherine holds a Bachelor of Social Science (Welfare), Diploma of Business, Diploma of Management, Diploma of Business Administration and Cert IV Training and Assessment.  She has extensive experience in governance in the not-for-profit sector as well as organisational and project management, financial management, direct service delivery and community development.

As well as being an experienced Board member of a number of NGOs in Western Sydney, Catherine’s previous roles include Executive Officer at Women’s Activities and Self Help House Inc (WASH House) and Family Worker Training and Development Program as well as women’s refuges, health centres and community based child protection services. Catherine has also worked in FaCS and NSW Housing (now Department of Communities and Justice) and TAFE. During her tenure at WASH House, the organsation was a Finalist in the NSW Premiers Award for Excellence in Public Service Delivery, winner of three local Business Excellence Awards, and a finalist for two local Business Excellence Awards. 

Catherine was appointed to the NSW Housing Appeals Committee in 2014 and has been a Presiding Chairperson since 2019. She also offers consultancy services in organisational management, professional supervision, program scoping, project management review, quality assurance, policy development, complaint investigation/ management and grant writing.
