This week marks Neighbourhood Centre Week, which celebrates the contribution of neighbourhood centres across NSW.
Fams would like to acknowledge the importance of such centres in connecting people with each other – and vital services in their area.
Many neighbourhood centres support communities through the Targeted Earlier Intervention (TEI) program. They offer informal and formal support networks, and improve broad knowledge and skills.
They are often the first point of contact for families and children, so are central to the early intervention service system.
Fams had increased opportunities during the pandemic to engage with neighbourhood centres across NSW. We have actively supported many of them to report on the great work they do on the Data Exchange (DEX).
