Children’s Week has come and gone, but the message stays with us “Everyone should know about children’s rights. “
Knowing is the start. We advocate for change that’s based on social justice and early support. We know child protection is deeply connected to housing, poverty, health, justice, and more.
Here are four campaigns we support that help protect children’s rights and strengthen families:
- Raise the Age NSW: No child should be in prison. This campaign is working to change the law.
- Fair Treatment: Drug use should be treated as a health issue, not a crime. This campaign calls for compassionate responses.
- Put Pokies in Their Place: Gambling harm affects families. This campaign pushes for safer gambling environments.
- End Child Poverty: Every child deserves a fair start. This campaign calls for national action to reduce child poverty.
As we reflect over recent weeks, it’s more apparent than ever that upholding children’s rights means acting when systems fall short, especially when families face challenges that make things harder.
