A big moment for the Smartest Dollar at NSW Parliament

Fams’ Smartest Dollar campaign has reached an important milestone, with The Hon Natasha Maclaren-Jones MLC submitting a Notice of Motion in NSW Parliament recognising Fams’ work and the evidence behind investing earlier in children and families.

At the heart of the motion is the case for early intervention. Economic modelling developed by Fams with Lumenia shows that every $1 invested in early intervention can generate up to $2.97 in social and economic benefits.

Fams CEO Susan Watson and Board Chairperson Ashleigh Daines were at Parliament to mark the occasion as this evidence was brought into the parliamentary conversation.

It is an exciting step in Fams’ ongoing advocacy for greater investment in early intervention and prevention, and another opportunity to keep the value of supporting families earlier firmly on the agenda.
