Human Rights Act Inquiry (NSW)
- NSW Parliament has supported an inquiry into the Human Rights Bill 2025, which proposes a Human Rights Act for NSW.
- A Human Rights Act has strong potential to protect the rights of children and young people, especially when some may be unable to advocate for themselves, and to embed accountability across all government systems.
- Fams will be supporting our partners and preparing a submission to the Inquiry.

DSS Child and Family Program Review
- The Federal Government has released its consultation report following the review of DSS‑funded child and family programs.
- Aligned with our joint submission with ACWA, we welcome the strong focus on early intervention and prevention, alongside relational contracting, co‑design and shared decision‑making.
- We continue to advocate for place‑based commissioning, stronger coordination with state reforms, and clearer timelines and guidance on how relational contracting will work in practice.

NSW Inquiry into Youth Justice
- Our submission is now live and reflects our consistent position that early support works to keep children safe and helps communities thrive.
- We’ve also proudly endorsed Raise the Age NSW’s submission, reinforcing the need for developmentally appropriate responses and to raise the age of criminal responsibility to 14 years old.
