As we settle into the new year of contracts, it’s a great moment to reset and make sure your DEX foundations are solid. Little tweaks now can make a big difference later.
DEX Tip #1: Start Checking and Updating Your Outlets
A small check‑in now can save big headaches later. Here are some simple things to look for:
- Do your outlet names match your new contracts? Are they labelled according to DCJ’s guidance?
- Who in your organisation has the authority to update an outlet? If you need changes, have you factored in DSS approval time? (It may take up to 10 days.)
DEX Tip #2: Start Early on Your CAFS Program Logic
Your CAFS program logic should clearly reflect how your service works and the outcomes you’re striving for. It’s worth questions like “Does our logic still reflect the way we deliver the program under the CAFS program?” or “Do our activities connect clearly to the outcomes we aim to achieve?”
If you’d like a refresher or inspiration, don’t forget there’s the Program Logic e-module and things like the Cultural Safety and Wellbeing Program Logic (see Page 42 of the specs) to help embed cultural safety from the very beginning.
