Advocacy in Action: What’s Happening

A big thank you to all the services who shared their insights and experiences to help shape Fams’ recent submissions.

Scroll for a snapshot of our key advocacy at the moment:

Inquiry on Government Service Delivery in Regional NSW

  • Reform reporting frameworks and monitoring metrics so they capture the full scope of service delivery and community need.
  • Develop fair and equitable approaches to evaluation that reflect the realities of regional service provision.
  • Move toward place‑based commissioning and genuinely local decision‑making.
  • Legislate funding for evaluation so it’s consistent and embedded across government programs.

Review of the Child Protection (Working with Children) Act 2012

  • Fams continues to push for a strengthened Working With Children Check as part of a broader commitment to Child Safe Standards. Our collective submission is in final draft, and we will be sharing this with you soon.

Investment in Early Intervention and Prevention

  • Additional Budget Estimates Hearings are now underway, with the Families and Communities hearing scheduled for next week. We will be listening keenly.
  • As we move toward the 2027 State Election, our focus is to secure cross‑party commitment to growing and strengthening early intervention and prevention in NSW.
  • Watch this space as we begin to share the work that we’ve been doing to demonstrate the social and economic impact of investing in early intervention and prevention.
