New Contract Clauses Around Modern Slavery

New Contract Clauses Around Modern Slavery

From 1 September 2025, all new and varied DCJ-funded contracts will include a Modern Slavery Model Contract Clause.

This change reflects obligations under the Modern Slavery Act 2018 (NSW), placing clear responsibilities on government and service providers to prevent exploitation and promote transparency across operations and supply chains.

What does this mean for you?

  • The clause applies to new contracts, variations, and extensions, but not existing contracts unless they’re changed.
  • Services must ensure staff are familiar with the Modern Slavery Act 2018 (NSW) and the Anti-Slavery Commissioner’s Guidance on Reasonable Steps.
  • The Commissioner’s website offers practical tools and templates to support implementation.
