With recommissioning on the horizon and new program specifications coming, now is a great time to check in with how your service is using data.
We know that the work you do with families and children is powerful and while data will never capture all of that, how we record and report our work through the Data Exchange (DEX) plays an important role. It helps funders, partners, and policymakers understand the impact you’re making every day.
Here are four simple things you can do to feel ready:
1. Link your contract to your DEX Report
Your funding agreement sets the direction. DEX helps you show how you’re tracking. Look at both together.
Are your activities and SCORE outcomes in sync with what’s in Table 2 of your contract? If not, that’s something we can work through together.
2. Check your program logic
Does your current program logic still reflect what you’re doing with families and young people? Do the outcomes you’re reporting in DEX include the ones you’re contracted for? It’s okay if things have shifted. This is a good moment to bring your logic up to date.
3. Get to know the new program specs
It’s helpful to start looking at any upcoming changes. These new specs will shape how we report, what data we need, and how success will be measured. The earlier you engage with them, the more time you have to plan.
4. Reach out when you need to
This work can be tricky, especially when you’re balancing direct service delivery with reporting and compliance.
Fams are ready to walk alongside you, from understanding your contract, translating your program logic, or getting more out of your DEX reports.
Your data tells a story of impact. The more clearly, we tell that story, the stronger our case becomes across our sector and into the future.
