On Monday, DVNSW and Fams collaborated to host an informative session for organisations interested in tendering for a specialist domestic and family violence project, such as the Safe & Strong Families tender.
Participants had the opportunity to engage with DVNSW and ask questions about specialised programs, with over 20 attendees from across NSW joining the discussion.
Key takeaways from the session included:
- The importance of reviewing DVNSW’s Good Practice Guidelines and Specialist DFV Assessment Checklists
- Recognising the value of clinical supervision to effectively address:
- Vicarious Trauma, safety and wellbeing
- Preventing burnout and maintaining boundaries
- Emphasising a whole-of-family approach, which involves working with:
- Children and young people
- Individuals who use violence
- Acknowledging the role of support staff who bring lived experience alongside their professional qualifications and skills.
- The necessity of integrating efforts with other sectors of the DFV response, ensuring familiarity with additional services and supports available.
Thank you to all who participated and contributed to this vital conversation.
