Fams attends AbSec Conference and release of Family Is Culture ‘Five Years On’ Community Report

It was a privilege to attend the 2024 NSW Aboriginal Child and Family Conference, hosted by AbSec, on the lands of the Mulgoa clan of the Dharug Nation. The event was an opportunity for deep listening, connection and served as the launch for AbSec’s Family Is Culture ‘Five Years On’ Community Report.

Ensuring the safety of children, strengthening families, and building supportive communities can only be achieved by transforming the child protection system to genuinely prioritise self-determination.

Fams will continue to push for the implementation of the ‘Family Is Culture’ recommendations.  We urge the NSW government to establish an independent Child Protection Commission and appoint a NSW Commissioner for Aboriginal Children and Young People.
