We closed out last year with submissions on Youth Justice and Federal Funding Reform, and we’ve hit the ground running in 2026 with more advocacy.
Right now, we’re preparing a submission to the NSW Inquiry on Government Service Delivery Standards. Thank you to everyone who has already shared your insights. Here’s what we’ve heard from regional CAFS and Family Preservation services:
- Performance & Accountability: Current reporting frameworks don’t reflect accurate outcomes or provide regional insights.
- Service Standards: Standards need to reflect diverse community needs and the realities of regional delivery.
- Evaluation: Evaluation must be properly resourced to show what works for families in regional areas.
- Legislation: Reforms should embed local decision-making and fund meaningful evaluation.
How You Can Shape This Work
Our sector’s knowledge and expertise shapes our advocacy. If you’d like to contribute, contact Daniel Wong, Director Policy & Practice.
To guide your thinking, here are some reflective questions:
- How can you clearly demonstrate impact?
- Where are regional areas exceeding standards and why?
- What examples show regional voices driving better outcomes?
- What governance strengths can we build on?
Stay tuned for more! We’ll keep you updated as we work with our sector to ensure your voice is heard at the upcoming NSW Additional Budget Estimates hearings and throughout the Review of the Child Protection (Working with Children) Act 2012.
