DCJ confirms Family Preservation contract extension

DCJ confirms Family Preservation contract extension

The Department of Community Justice (DCJ) has confirmed the extension of Family Preservation service contracts for an additional 12 months until June 2025. This decision has no doubt been met with relief by the sector as it provides a clear timeline for planning towards the 2025 recommissioning.

The extension will allow time for further research and analysis, and for further co-design and testing of the future recommissioned Family Preservation program design with the sector.

A full sector briefing will occur at the next DCJ Family Preservation forum in August, where Fams will be in attendance. We encourage all Family Preservation services to prioritise attending the forum.

Understanding the challenges faced by Family Preservation services, Fams will be hosting a sector network forum on August 14, from 12 pm to 1 pm. The purpose of this gathering is to discuss and prepare for the upcoming steps leading to the recommissioning following the DCJ briefing.  To ensure your attendance at this and future sector network sessions, please register through the link provided:  Fams Family Preservation Network Forum- Register

We at Fams are committed to providing unwavering support to the sector as we move towards recommissioning and beyond.
