NAIDOC Week 2023

NAIDOC Week 2023

NAIDOC week starts this Sunday from the 2nd to the 9th of July.

This year’s theme is For our Elders, who play an important role in the Indigenous community and pave the way through their knowledge and experience.

NAIDOC week is a wonderful opportunity for all Australians to come together and celebrate Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and culture. As a non-Indigenous organisation, we identify our responsibility to educate ourselves on Indigenous culture.

In line with this, our team members Bronte & Lauren recently attended a Cultural Safety and Responsiveness Workshop, hosted by Western Sydney Community Forum and facilitated by the wonderful Anny Druett.

“It was an incredible day that deepened my understanding of Aboriginal culture and provided me with essential skills to engage in culturally safe and responsive practice”, Bronte said.

To continue the NAIDOC week celebrations, join Fams in attending a NAIDOC event in your area!
