We have exciting news with the appointment of our new CEO, Susan Watson.
Susan is a leader in the not-for-profit sector, bringing decades of experience working with young people, their families and in disability care across Australia and the United Kingdom.
Throughout her career, Susan has led significant reform projects to boost the financial sustainability, growth and culture of the organisations and sectors she has led.
Starting her career as a registered nurse before moving into senior governance and stakeholder management roles, Susan brings together both clinical and management experience, and frontline service delivery experience.
“I’m thrilled to be part of such an important organisation, and excited to work with members and the broader sector to ensure that vulnerable children and their families get the support they need.”
Susan has spent the last two years as Managing Director of a large charity in the UK. During her time in the role she led an emergency pandemic program that delivered 27,000 meals to people in need.
She is also extremely proud of her time as CEO of the Sydney Drug Education and Counselling Centre, where she earned multiple nominations for sector awards and doubled revenue of the organisation.
Susan will start as CEO on Monday 28 February and is looking forward to meeting with you once she is settled in.
I also again want to thank our outgoing CEO, Julie Hourigan Ruse. Under Julie’s leadership Fams has grown its reach and developed a reputation for providing fearless advocacy for vulnerable children and the sector. We look forward to continuing that trajectory.
“I’m so proud to have led the fantastic team at Fams, and of all our achievements during my time as CEO. We have worked tirelessly to advocate and support some of our most vulnerable community members.”
